Why I’m Choosing to Niche Down (And What That Means for You)
Committing to yourself and what you believe in
In 2013, I packed up my life in Michigan, took a corporate job in Colorado, and landed in a city I barely knew with two weeks notice to find a place to live.
If you told me back then I’d end up owning three companies in the sports performance world, I would’ve laughed in your face and said, “Not a chance.”
But here we are.
How It All Started
I came out here with a girlfriend I’d only been dating for a few months—Katie.
She’s now my wife, my business partner, and the reason any of this exists.
Katie left corporate first. She became a strength coach and got her CSCS before it was trendy. She believed in Lifelong Endurance before it even had a name. And when things got scary? She moved first.
Since then, we’ve built from the ground up—Lifelong Endurance, then PEAK, and now, Golden Sports Performance.
What PEAK has become
PEAK started in 2015 with five athletes. Now? We’re a team totaling over 100 athletes - more than 75 have gone on to compete in the NCAA since 2017. We’ve put 7 athletes on Team USA, and created state and national champions in track and cross country.
In 2023, we added a sprint program with Coach Matthew Bacchus. In just two years, six of his athletes have taken their talents to the next level.
And in late 2024, we opened the doors to our very own home base: Golden Sports Performance. It’s not just a gym. It’s our training ground. Our community space. Our launch pad for everything still to come.
The Shift: Why I’m Focusing In
This year, I’m doubling down.
I’m still coaching adult athletes - but I’m no longer letting that define my schedule or energy. Instead, I’m choosing to go all-in on what lights me up: working with motivated high school and adult runners.
This isn’t just a pivot - it’s a commitment to do the work that challenges me, excites me, and pushes me forward.
Here’s how I’ll be coaching moving forward:
PEAK ELITE
A 24-athlete, in-person, high-performance training group based in Colorado. High School men + women. Limited roster. Time Standard Required. Big goals.
1:1 Private Coaching (Nationwide)
Custom training plans, strength work, and direct feedback. This is the most personalized level of work I offer.
Off-Season Remote Coaching
Group-based, season-specific programs that teach athletes how to train, not just what to do. Think of this as the hands-on, action-based side of this newsletter.
Mental Skills Coaching
Single sessions or 4-call intensives focused on race strategy, confidence, and composure on the starting line.
Why I’m Okay Letting Go
I’ve coached adult runners for over a decade. And I’ll still work with a select few. But I’m not here to be your cheerleader anymore.
If I have to beg you to do the work, I’m not your coach.
I want to collaborate. I want to have honest dialogue. I want to work with athletes—youth & adult, who are chasing something meaningful and willing to go all-in.
